High School Confidential: Courtney’s Story
Courtney is the ideal Catholic all American girl – she is a cheerleader, plays on the soccer team, and worried about temptation as she goes into high school. As the older sister, she feels responsibility to set a good example for her younger sister and two brothers. You can tell from the way her mom talks that she thinks of Courtney in a different way than her sister, Justine, just a year younger. She says they are as different as night and day. Courtney and Justine become best friends in high school, not fighting as much as they used to.
Some of the episode of High School Confidential dealt with Courtney entering 10th grade and hanging out with cheerleaders who had begun drinking. The girls get caught before a game in the school parking lot and the security guard calls the parents. She gets three days of detention, which causes her to miss part of the soccer tryouts and she doesn’t make the team. This is devastating because she wants to play soccer in college.
But, the big high school news is not that of Courtney, but Justine – she gets pregnant. You can tell, as her boyfriend said, Courtney “carries the weight of the family.” She is the one that tells her dad. He takes Justine to the doctor to confirm it before telling their mom. When mom finds out, she is angry. There is no talk of abortion and really no talk of keeping it – Justine has little input, even though another pregnant teen called her a “bad mother” for giving up her baby for adoption.
In the end, Courtney helps everyone through the situation. Mom says Courtney is not the favorite, but she does add they are “so proud of her” and she needs to show Justine more that she loves her unconditionally. Courtney said she learned to be her own person in high school.

i love this show and i love her story. i’m only in middle school but her story and all the girls stories can really give advice 2 me and maybe other people.
