High School Confidential: Jessi
Jessi was terribly shy growing up, so she got into acting when she was very young. She was born out of wedlock and never got to meet her father. Her mother married when she was in 5th grade and she got a stepsister her age that she didn’t get along with. She went to church growing up, but got in with the wild, party crowd anyhow.
Jessi was getting bad grades and doctors diagnosed her with ADD. Her mom moved her to The Academy in 10th grade, an alternative school with smaller classes. That year, she fell in love for the first time and had a pregnancy scare. When she thought she was pregnant, her boyfriend left her. She went into a deep depression and had to visit a psych ward for a while until she got on meds for the depression.
By 11th grade, she was hanging out at a friend’s house with no adult supervision. There was an “orgy bed” and as she put it “it was a very loving environment.” She was on the pill, but taking antibiotics and got pregnant again. She never mentioned who the father was – that was sad. She miscarried at 6 weeks – the day she calls “the worst day of my life.”
By her senior year, Jessi had her depression under control. She was trying to get away from drinking so much and even got a job at Subway. She also had a new boyfriend – Brian. She auditioned for the American Music and Dramatics Art Academy and made it, earning a $4,000 scholarship. Brian had planned to move with her, but the move put too much stress on the young couple and they broke up. Jessi’s mom was leaving Kansas to move to GA with her fiancé she met on the Internet. Jessi found out they were engaged when she read it in an email that had been printed and was sitting on the table. Nice mom, real nice. Anyhow, mom put her up in an apartment for the three months before school in LA started. Jessi moved Matt in, but they weren’t really boyfriend and girlfriend because she was leaving.
It’s nice to see a young girl’s dream of moving to LA to pursue acting come true…well, almost. It was depressing, at least to me, to learn that 10 days after she left Kansas, she had a panic attack and moved back home. She is now working at WalMart.
