High School Musical: Get in the Picture: The Western Open Auditions
Finished with the East Coast auditions, the team of Chris, Jen, and Regina began the western auditions for High School Musical: Get in the Picture. It may have just been the way they filmed it, but it seemed like there were many more bad auditions than there were at the last open calls. Of course, poor Ben Ashley, who had only been singing for four days – you expect him to be not so good. But there were others that either had no presence, were too breathy, not exciting enough – the list of problems goes on and on.
Now, those that did make it through to the semi-finals: Christina and Christie from Hawaii. Christina looked like a native, but Christie was a blonde living in Hawaii who had to try to find her own niche there. BFFs Sean and Kelli from Austin made it as did Ether, the band geek from Nebraska, Madison, (with her 4.3 GPA) from Dallas, and Stan, the jock. Britney Christian had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, but she didn’t need to use it as she made it to the semi-finals too.
Blair Perkins, with his big ole smile, charmed his way into Jen’s heart. Shayna Goldstein, whose parents built her a recording studio in their basement, was good and will be moving on. Mandy Rogers hopes to break out of her small town and Thanneus Wilson lost 50 pounds, but may gain a new career! Andrew Olson – I didn’t care too much for his singing, but he has the look for HSM. The last audition shown was the “feel good” case – T.J. Wlkins lives in South Central LA and told the judge it was hard for him to overcome the temptation in his neighborhood. But, his singing was okay and he had a nice smile, so maybe he will make it further into the competition.
