Holly Madison and Steve Wozniak eliminated from Dancing With The Stars

Tonight’s double elimination on Dancing With The Stars has removed the dreaded dance off.  A bottom three will be revealed but there’s no second chance performances.  This kind of sucks.  At least the dance off is an interesting use of time during the results show.  What is this going to leave us with this week?  First off, a recap of last night.  I don’t mind this so much when there wasn’t an entire hour of recap before it (I think it was Better of Ted or something that was on).  After that an encore performance – the judges chose the Argentine Tango of Gilles and Cheryl to see again.  A recap of the leader board next brings us to the first elimination announcement:  Gilles and Cheryl and Lawrence (LT) and Edyta are safe, while Holly and Dmitry are in the bottom three.

After the commercial break Kevin Rudolph performed his hit “Let it Rock” and some of the pros danced a Paso Doble to the song (one of the dances to be performed next week).  Lacey, Chelsie, Julianne, Derek, and someone I couldn’t see too well did an awesome job.  I kind of thought it was Maks, but then the hair didn’t look like his hair.  A backstage interview by the nearly voice-less Samantha Harris leads into another elimination announcement: Shawn and Mark are safe.

Following commercial break we see a magnificent Viennese Waltz, performed by international champions and choreographed by Louis Van Amstel.  I was able to pick out Jonathan and Anna and Louis, but I couldn’t make out the other pros.  It was so beautiful.  The costumes were gorgeous and the choreography amazing.  An elimination announcement is next:  Chuck and Julianne are safe; Steve-O and Lacey are in the bottom three.

Boyz II Men performed a medley of songs, accompanied by pros Cheryl, Tony, Kym and Dmitry.  Two observations.  I can’t believe the range of Boyz II Men.  They were first popular back when I was in high school and they were more of a hip hop/r&b type of group.  Tonight they were dressed all slick, performing some of the best songs from Motown.  Second, the pros were amazing.  But I don’t know if I really needed to say that – this goes without saying.  A bit from the judges and their take on the celebrities and season to date is followed by the next elimination announcement.  Lil’ Kim and Derek and Melissa and Tony are safe.

A bit about how the celebrities feel when it comes to impressing the judges and winning over the fans is after the commercial.  I think it’s hysterical that the celebrities are voting for themselves.  Do you think Ty had AT&T or did he get it so he could text his vote?  This is followed by an elimination announcement – Ty and Chelsie and David and Kym are safe while Steve and Karina are in the bottom three.

In the end the two couples who were eliminated were Holly and Dmitry and Steve and Karina.  I’m so sorry to see them both go, because I really liked both of them.

It seems that ABC is trying to tweek the show; dance off, and if that isn’t working, try a double elimination. In my opinion, let’s do the dance off.
