Ice Road Truckers
Unfortunately, some of us have the idea that history is quite boring that even before a featured episode ends on the History Channel, we find ourselves asleep in the couch. It’s not that hard to imagine being asleep in front of the TV with nothing but recall in the past that we can’t just really relate.
But with the new show, “Ice Road Truckers”, we may have a keeper this time. “Ice Road Truckers” started in June this year and its first episode is the highest rated show in History Channel’s, ugh history so far. It has defeated the ratings of its previous title holder, “Deadliest Catch”, also a documentary/reality show about Alaskan king crab fishermen. Catching Alaskan king crab is not your average fisherman’s job as the fatalities is 300 to every 100,000.
Looks like the record hit show is also about danger, only in an entirely different location. “Ice Road Truckers” follows six actual truckers who drive hundreds of miles in a road created by ice. This may not be as gruesome as the “deadliest catch” but the people here are lively as they don’t really have to be grumpy in facing the dangerous waves. They camera crew go with the truckers as they drive miles and miles trudging across cracking ice. Anytime, the ice will crack and they have to outsmart the conditions. If you won’t be swallowed by the ice, you’re truck will be and in the middle of the sea of ice, help is really far, remote and most of the time, unlikely.
Showing every Sunday at 10pm Eastern, follow Drew, Rick, Alex, Hugh, TJ and Jay as they struggle survive and trudge through the waters. Catch their season Finale this Sunday, August 19 in History Channel and realize that life is always better no matter what if you compare your job to these truckers.
