Jane Seymour is eliminated from Dancing With The Stars this week

Tom Bergeron starts off the show this night by saying that it was not an understatement that there has been some crazy twists and turns in this season of Dancing With The Stars. Marie Osmond was not with the rest of the cast tonight, as her father had passed away so she was going to spend time with her family. I’ll give the producers credit, though, as they announced right away that she and Jonathan were safe and would be competing next week. They showed the same courtesy when Jane’s mother passed away as well.

Was anyone really surprised at the judges’ choice for the encore performance? The judges called this the performance of the season – Mel B. and Maks performing the Paso Doble to En Vogue’s “Free Your Mind.” I still was a bit weirded out by the performance. But I think I probably was the only one watching the show who felt this way.

LeAnn Rimes was the guest musical performer tonight. Can you say self promotion ABC? Isn’t it funny that ABC is airing the Country Music Awards and LeAnn Rimes is a country music artist? Bergeron came right out and said you can see her tonight on DWTS on ABC and tomorrow night at the awards show on ABC. She performed an acoustic version of her song “How do I Live.” I really love this song so I was surprised that I was disappointed at this arrangement of it. (But then again I think Trisha Yearwood’s version of the song is a better version overall.) Tony and Julianne performed to the song, a dance I think you would classify as a freestyle performance. Awesome job. I think they work really well together as a team and both of them are such great dancers. Wouldn’t it be nice to see more of the pros perform versus the imported dancers brought in to fill time in this long, drawn out, hour long results show?

The imported dancers this week in the sponsored Stars of Dance segment was Crazy Legs and the Rock Steady Crew. OK, for a minute I forgot where I was and what decade it was, or I thought maybe one of my kids changed the channel on me and I was watching the really, really, really bad movie “Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogalo” and was ready to yell at them for canceling the TiVo recording. No such luck- this was actually being shown on DWTS. Do the producers really think that this is going to satisfy the viewers? Perhaps this time could have been better spent with a group dance from the professional dancers, or a musical number that featured the great band singers and musicians.

Dance Center made its first appearance this season, with Kenny Mayne, Jerry Rice and Len Goodman. I hate to say that I thought it was hysterical. Personally I think it would have been funnier and a better use of time to have an extended Dance Center skit. Just my two cents worth.

LeAnn Rimes returned to perform a song from her new album (I think it was called “Nothing Better to Do”) and was accompanied by five of the female professional dancers. I could not really get a good luck at who was performing but I did see Cheryl and Anna for sure, and I thought I also saw Kym and Karina.

This week the producers did not reveal a bottom two – Jane and Tony and Jennie and Derek were the last two couples standing. One of the couple was the lowest vote getter; the other just had dumb luck in being one of the last two couples standing. The celebrity who went home this week: Jane Seymour. So the question is this – what couple was the one with the second lowest total?
