Jillian Michaels

Jillian Michaels returned to The Biggest Loser this year in a big way – as the trainer of the surprise Black team that no one knew about until two weeks into the competition.

Jillian was the coach of the Red Team on “The Biggest Loser” for the first and second season. She was replaced in season three by trainer Kim Lyons, but fans were glad this season to see her return. Jillian is also a trainer on the Australian version of “The Biggest Loser” along with Bob Harper.

Jillian connects with both the audience and her contestants to help them with their desire to get into shape. Jillian seems to have endless energy, often to this dismay of her team, but she is devoted to helping them turn their lives around. She emphasizes fitness and nutrition while stressing to the contestants that they must make behavioral changes to overcome their issues with food. She challenges her team not only physically but mentally.

Jillian is a very experienced strength trainer and life coach. She earned certificates in personal training from the National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association (NESTA) as well as the American Fitness Association of America (AFAA). She is knowledgeable and skilled in Reebok Core, injury rehabilitation, endurance training, muscle growth, fat reduction, and sports nutrition. Jillian has been recognized for her work in Advanced Exercise Nutrition and Supplementation for Training and Performance by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). She is a black belt with 17 years experience in martial arts (Muay Thai and Akarui-Do). For training, she likes to blend kickboxing, yoga, Pilates, weight training, and plyometrics.

Jillian is the author of two books: Winning by Losing: Drop the Weight, Change Your Life and Making the Cut. She also has released several DVDs including The Biggest Winner - How to Win by Losing - Maximize Complete, The Biggest Winner - How to Win by Losing - Shape Up Complete, and The Biggest Winner - How to Win by Losing: Cardio Kickbox. Jillian lives in Los Angeles with her Chihuahua Baxter. She is a celebrity advisor to National Day of Dance for Heart Health, which encourages people to exercise and dance themselves to a healthier lifestyle.
