Jonathan Roberts
Jonathan Roberts will be returning to “Dancing with the Stars” this season. The first season, he danced with actress/model Rachel Hunter. They came in fourth place. The second season of the show, he was paired with journalist Giselle Fernandez. They were eliminated in the third week. Last year, he danced with activist Heather Mills. They came in seventh place. This year, Jonathan will be dancing with singer/actress Marie Osmond.
Jonathan began dancing later in life than most professional dancers, at the age of 20. In high school, he was more of a jock, so it was a bit of a shock to his family and friends when he discovered he loved dancing. Jonathan rather stumbled into dancing. After seeing the movie Scent of a Woman, he was so taken with the tango scene that he decided to take advantage of the free ballroom lesson that was offered on his ticket stub.
Jonathan may have started late, but it certainly did not take him long to catch up. He and his first partner won the 1997 USA Rising Star American Ballroom competition. Once he teamed with Anna Trebunskaya (his wife, who will dance this season with model Albert Reed), he found himself winning the 2003 Blackpool Professional Rising Star Latin Champion and the 2004 US National Professional Rising Star Latin Champion. He and his amateur partner Pam Butler are the two-time undefeated USA Pro-Am 10 Dance Champions, the three-time undefeated USA Pro-Am Latin Champions, and the two-time the USA Pro-Am American Ballroom Champions. He and Anna still participate in competitions throughout the world. They are ranked 6th in the United States and 24th in the world.
