Kim Kardashian is kicked off Dancing With The Stars
If it’s Tuesday then it must be the results show of Dancing With The Stars. I have such a love hate relationship with this show. I want to know who is safe but I hate having to wait the whole hour to do so.
Let me begin this post by saying I am completely shocked with the elimination of Kim Kardashian. Yes, she wasn’t the best dancer but I heard somewhere that the video of her Mambo was one of the most watched clips on the internet last week. I thought for sure her reality television fan base would have kept her in the competition for longer than three shows.
First up was a recap of last night’s show. That’s nice if you didn’t already see it, but I have a funny feeling that everyone who is tuned in tonight saw it last night. After the recap we get the encore dance. Len said all three judges were in agreement , enjoying the drama, artistry and entertainment of the dance. The one they chose was the Paso Doble of Warren and Kym. After reading some of the web sites talking about Warren and his “diva like” behavior he’s fast becoming one of my least favorite celebrities on the show. The performance though, was equally as good as last night, if not better.
Another recap of where everyone is on the leader board. Hmmm….
The elimination then begins, and we find out the first two couples who are safe. Toni and Alec are announced first (not a big surprise because she is a pretty good dancer and he is an excellent partner) and then Rocco and Karina. I think that it would be safe to say they were surprised they were saved because of the look of pure shock on their faces.
After the commercial is the musical guest Jessica Simpson. I guess she just released a new album that went to #1 on the country music charts. Did I miss something? When did Jessica Simpson go country? She performed her song “Come on Over” accompanied by two professional dancers whose names I missed. (They were not the regular pros.)
Backstage interview by Samantha. Rocco, how do you feel being safe? Toni, what does it mean to you to go on next week? Alec, when are you going to release an album?
Elimination time again. Cody and Julianne and Brooke and Derek are safe.
After commercial we see a segment about Len and Bruno and their grueling schedules. They are judges on both DWTS in the US and Strictly Come Dancing in the UK. Why do they do it – because they love the show and want to be a part of it Len says. The cynic in me says they do it for the money. But hey, I’m a cynic.
The first installment of the Macy’s Stars of Dance comes up next. The routine was choreographed by Brian Friedman and featured former Pussycat Doll Carmit Bacher and from Step Up Jenna Dewan. It was a good dance but nothing special. The most interesting part of it was the glowing costumes. But part of me is wondering if it was more effective in person, because the audience there was going crazy for it. I think this would be a great venue for Lacey Schwimmer, since I think she is in way over her head when it comes to the ballroom portion of the show.
Commercial time, then Jessica Simpson was back again to perform her song “Angels” accompanied by Cheryl and Maks. Great dance, so so song. I would have liked to see more of the dancing and less of Jessica holding up her left arm to show off the drape of her dress.
Backstage interviews with Samantha. Julianne, are you surprised that Cody did a sexy Rumba? Brooke, you have no problem being sexy, what do you think Derek? The interviews are followed by the next elimination announcement: Susan and Tony are safe. Susan gave thank yous as if she was just given a Daytime Emmy award.
After commercial we see a segment on “the red room,” the backstage area we see on television. A nice little segment, I guess, but time is ticking down and I’m ready to hear who is safe. I don’t have to wait much longer to hear that Warren and Kym and Maurice and Cheryl are saved. Back to commercial.
A quick commercial, then to the final elimination. We’re reminded that the bottom two are not named. We find out that Lance and Lacey and Misty and Maks are safe. That leaves the father – son rivalry of Corky versus Mark under the red lights. We find out that it is Kim and Mark who are eliminated from the show. Corky and Cloris are safe to dance another day.
