Kim Lyons

Kim Lyons is a trainer on the NBC hit reality show, “The Biggest Loser.” Kim took over for Jillian Michaels as trainer of the Red Team two seasons ago. Jillian has since returned, not to reclaim the Red Team, but to train the Black Team.

Kim was born on May 5, 1973. Her father is an Air Force pilot, so moving around a lot was one part of Kim’s lifestyle that helped develop her lively personality. Kim has been active and physically fit all her life. She participated in track, softball, and cheerleading as well as drama and acting groups while growing up.

Kim graduated from Colorado State University in 1995 with a degree in Human Development and Nutrition. Afterwards, while teaching aerobic classes, she began to focus seriously on weight training. She graduated from the National Academy of Sports Medicine for personal training. She earned many nationally recognized nutrition certificates and also won several national and international fitness competition titles. She earned her International Federation of Body Builders (IFBB) Pro card in 2002.

One time in Kim’s life when she was not able to be physically active was when she tore her Achilles tendon while preparing for a fitness competition. It took her seven months to recover, but during that time, she focused on writing about her fitness knowledge. Her articles were featured in many magazines including Oxygen, Muscle and Fitness, and SELF.

While she does not know what it is like to be overweight, she does know that having fun and keeping her team motivated on their way to a healthier lifestyle is important. Her bright smile and positive attitude help her clients achieve and maintain their goals of weight loss.

In addition to her expert fitness training, Kim has also modeled, appearing on the cover of over 30 magazines worldwide. She has appeared in print in People, TV Guide, US Weekly, The Los Angeles Times, Allure, Women’s World, and Marie Claire. She has appeared on many television shows: The Today Show, Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, The Insider, The News Channel, and Extra. She is also featured in The Biggest Loser cookbook and instructional DVDs. She is writing her first book, Your Body, Your Life: The 12-Week Program to Optimum Physical, Mental, & Emotional Fitness, which will be available in January 2008.

Kim currently resides in Hermosa Beach, where she continues to pursue her passion of fitness competition by continuing to compete on the IFBB Pro circuit. She also hosts and makes appearances at amateur fitness competitions and fitness expos. In her spare time, Kim enjoys cooking, studying interior design, and is active in adventure sports.
