Kim Vo
Kim Vo serve as a judge on the Bravo show “Shear Genius,” a competitive reality show that features hair stylists. But what has made Kim qualified to judge other high-end hair stylists?
Kim was born in Vietnam and raised in Europe, but eventually, his family settled in Los Angeles. Kim started his professional career at The Spot in New York, but soon moved back to the west coast. He put in his time at two top salons in Los Angeles – Cristophe and Prive. Among his more famous clients there were Hillary and Bill Clinton. Kim travelled through Europe as a Master Colorist for L’Oreal and it was there that he began studying French coloring technology.
After that, he decided to open his own salon, B2V, in Beverly Hills in 2000. It was here that he honed his coloring skills, which create a brilliant yet natural look. His special approach to color has made him one of the top colorists in Hollywood today. Among his celebrity clients are the mother/daughter duo of Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson, Kirsten Dunst, Kim Cattrall, Teri Hutcher, Pamela Anderson, and Lara Flynn Boyle. At B2V, Kim developed such techniques as “American Tailoring” and “hair dusting.”
Kim approaches hair like a work of art. When coloring, he often uses techniques he learned as a painter, laying colors and shades and lifting hair piece by piece to achieve the perfect look. B2V offered clients not only the best stylist in Kim, but also a stress free experience.
In addition to his salon, Kim developed a line of products for hair care and styling around the same time he was opening his KIM VO salon in The Mirage in Las Vegas. His colored hair products will soon be available nationally and Kim promises to continue to work on products that create new standards in hair care.
Kim regularly appears on “Extreme Makeover,” E!’s “Daily 10” and “Roots,” and on the Oxygen show “Tease.” He writes a regular celebrity column for American Salon and has been featured in many magazines including Vogue, Glamour, Lucky, and Elle, Redbook.
