Last Comic Standing: Dante and Gina Leave
This week was the first challenge for the finalists – the heckle. The comedians were paired up into teams and they would take turns heckling and responding to each other. First up was Lavell with Debra heckling him. Debra wasn’t a very good heckler, but Lavell had good responses. Next up was Jon, who seemed to dread this challenge. He had Gerry heckling him. Neither was very good – the heckler or the hecklee. Amy was much more cutting with Matt than I expected. He looks so sweet with that smile - how can you attack him? Gina and Ralph really didn’t get into the heckling either, although Gina was funny when she told him he looked like a peanut with a head. Dante was funny when he told Doug “I don’t know if your eye is lazy or it just doesn’t like to work.” Then Doug had me rolling when he said if you looked up the word funny in the dictionary, you would see a picture of Dante watching someone funny.
In the end, the audience voted Lavell as the winner. He got immunity, and a trip to perform in Montreal. Next up was the head-to-head competition. Each comic had to go into the booth and state who they thought they were funnier than. Ralph and Dante were both mentioned twice with one vote to go. That was Gina and she said she thought she was funnier than Dante. So, it was Dante, Gina, and Ralph going head-to-head. Gina started off slow, but was funny. Dante’s set was a bit better, but Ralph just blew the audience away. He was so manic and quick – seems like he got a whole 30 minute routine in two minutes. He ended up winning the competition, which meant Dante and Gina were eliminated. I think Gina’s style was a bit too low key, but I expected Dante to stay around longer. Who is Doug Benson going to make fun of now?
