Last Comic Standing: Esther Ku and God’s Pottery are Eliminated
This week on Last Comic Standing, I have to give props to Sean Cullen. I was not impressed last week by his porn song, but he really cracked me up this week in the challenge. The contestants had to do “yo momma” jokes in a boxing ring. His “yo momma is so old that she was in the shower, raised her breast, and a pilgrim fell out” had me rolling. But, it was Jim Tavare that won the challenge and immunity. Oddly enough, coming in second was God’s Pottery, who mostly did anti-“yo momma” jokes, but still cracked up the crowd.
After the challenge, the contestants were taken to a graveyard to cast their “I know I’m funnier than…” vote in a mausoleum. There for a while, it wasn’t clear who would have the most votes, but Esther Ku really picked up at the end when God’s Pottery, Louis, Adam, and Iliza all voted for her. I guess it was her laugh that caused a “tsunami of evil” as Marcus said. Iliza had told Esther she wouldn’t vote for her at the house, but I don’t think any of the comics expected their answers to be shown before everyone.
Ether had to pick two people and although she had said she was funnier than Louis was, she chose God’s Pottery (because she didn’t understand their humor) and Iliza (because she was lame and judgmental). At the showdown, Esther told many of the same jokes we have heard three times now. She said she was the class clown in school and in my opinion, her comedy hasn’t progressed much since then. I think she relies too much on being cute. God’s Pottery – either you get them or you don’t and even though I get them, after a while, it gets a bit old. While I think they are funny, I never really thought they should have made the final 12 – just not the place for them. Iliza – someone lit a fire under this girl and her name was Esther. She did not come to play – well, maybe she did because she killed the competition, getting 68% of the votes.
I think the next weakest target will be Papa CJ, but the previews made it look like Iliza is after Louis, so I guess we will just have to wait and see.
