Last Comic Standing: Half of the Final 10!
There were 16 comedians performing tonight, of which five would go on to the finals. There were some really talented people tonight. Some were just okay. Unfortunately, there was a few that just fell flat for me.
John Caparulo was one of those comedians. The Capital One audience favorite in Tempe, he killed them there, but just barely amused this crowd. I felt the same way about British comic Gina Yashere and Tracey Ashley. Just nothing sidesplittingly funny. Dante was funny with his impersonations of Jack Nicholson, Robert DeNiro, Christopher Lloyd, and Gilbert Gottfried, but show me one comedian that can’t do those people.
Australian comedian Lawrence Mooney has a few funny bits as did Sarah Colonna, Dwayne Kennedy, Sabrina Matthews, Lori Chase, and Doug Benson, although his sarcastic humor is really not my thing. Adam Vincent from Australia was just silly and Spencer Brown from England was a bit funny, but not really. Ralph Harris did an amusing bit about his 100-year-old grandfather, but I didn’t think it was all that hilarious.
Who did I like? Gina DiGiovanni was just as great this time around as she was in her original auditions. I thought Tommy Johnagin and Joe DeVito were absolutely hilarious. I would have sworn they would be two of those chosen.
But, no neither Tommy nor Joe were chosen (which was just disgraceful to me). The final five were Dante (the Capital One audience favorite), Gina Yashere, Ralph Harris, Debra DiGiovanni, and Doug Benson. So, out of the five, I loved one of them, one was good, one sucked, and two were okay.
