Last Comic Standing: It’s Your Turn to Decide Who Stays

There was talk this week on Last Comic Standing of not challenging Iliza since she was on such a roll. After a filler bit at a Japanese restaurant that involved the Deal or No Deal girls, female bodybuilders, frat boys, and dwarves. This really wasn’t funny, just like last week’s car wash event.

The challenge was to read a bedtime story to the girls from The Girls Next Door at the Playboy Mansion. Each comic was given a title and had to write a story around that. Much like last week’s prop challenge, most of them floundered. Even thought Kendra liked Ron and most of the girls like Iliza and thought Jeff was cute, they chose Marcus as the winner (and rightfully so). He got immunity this week, but Bill had a surprise – there would be no cemetery trip and each comic had to perform this week for the votes of America.

This was one of the funniest week’s for each of the comics. I haven’t seen some of my favorites, like Louis, actually perform stand-up in so long that I wondered if he was still funny! Adam opened up the show. He is funny, but I am not going to be heartbroken if he leaves (sorry Adam). Next up was Iliza. She wrote almost all new material for this – very daring or as some of the comics put it – “stupid.” But, she wowed the crowd with her set. Sean fell back on a song. I like his songs, but I’d really rather him do true stand-up. The songs are amusing, but his stand-up is what really makes me laugh. Jim absolutely killed me. The bit about how he has two small children that travel with him sometimes, then he opened a door in the back of his bass and said “Shut up” was just too funny. He seriously had me crying.

Jeff – I want to like Jeff, but he kinda falls in the Adam category. If he leaves, I won’t be too upset. Ron G – damn him, I haven’t like him much from the beginning, but last night, he made me laugh so hard that I snorted. My husband made fun of me for the rest of the night. His bit about his woman belittling when he wanted to do stuff was just killer. The whole “go on to your little comedy club and tell your little jokes to your little friends” followed by “oh, now you got a little gun, your gonna shoot your little self. Go on and put your little bullets in your little gun” then “oh, look at you in your little casket, dead and all” just had me rolling. It seemed wrong to laugh at it, but hey, sometimes you have to laugh at the politically incorrect stuff.

Last up was my man Louis. Talk about a smooth delivery. He just kept hitting them out of the park. I loved the “I never go to a bookstore…because I have cable” joke. I thought my husband was going to literally fall off the sofa when he followed that up with “Then I had an epiphany, but then again, that might just be her stripper name.” Louis just killed me – I could have listened to hours of his stuff.

So coming out of the night, my votes went to Jim and Louis. I don’t really understand what is going on with the show. I never heard Bill say how many would be eliminated this week, but I could have sworn he said next week was the finale, which makes no sense at all. There are eight comics left (including immune Marcus) – how can that be narrowed down in one week? I thought last season’s finale was between Jon Reep and Lavell Crawford. I thought the finale was always between two or three people. Are we losing five comics this week? What is happening?
