Last Comic Standing: Jon Reep is the Winner!
As would be expected, there was a lot of filler stuff tonight on the two-hour Last Comic Standing finale. Carrot Top performed a hilarious set, saying, “I had better stuff but O.J. took it from my hotel room.” We also saw Kathleen, ANT, and Alonzo, the talent scouts. Robert Schimmel did a great set about roller coasters that had me crying – literally! Dane Cook showed up to wish the contestants well and promote his new movie. The others from the Top Ten that did not make it to the finale gave their best one-liners. And several of the LCS All-Stars showed up to roast the two remaining contestants.
But of course, the men of the hour were Lavell and Jon. Throughout the show, Lavell looked worried, while Jon just cracked up at everything. Even when he was being roasted, Jon just looked like he was having a good time. Each comedian did a farewell performance before the winner’s name was finally called.
I was actually surprised to hear Jon’s name. I thought Lavell had it in the bag. When Lavell made comments to the roasters, he got a standing ovation by the audience. And last week, I thought Lavell’s set was a bit funnier than Jon’s was, although it is hard to compare the two because Jon is much more of a physical comedian.
Jon Reep, the Hemi Guy, wins an exclusive contract with NBC, a Bravo special, and oh yea, $250,000 for his efforts!
