Last Comic Standing: LA and Houston Auditions
This season , I’ve been a little less than impressed with the talent and that feeling continued with the LA auditions of the last comic standing. I figured LA – the land of stand up comics, but there were really only a few that made me laugh out loud. Ron G. was good and thankfully, he made it through to the next round. His joke about his ex being a dream snatcher was hilarious! Another of my favs was Erin Foley – she made it through as well. I did like Jacob Sirof, the Star Wars geek, but he didn’t make the cut. Two more comedians did – Eddie Pepitone, the angry old guy who was funny and Jackie Kashian. I really cannot remember much of her stuff, so I guess she didn’t strike me as all that funny.
But Houston – man, Houston had some funny people! I even liked two acts that the judges refused – The Other Brothers and Ian Varella. Those guys should consider going on “America’s Got Talent!” I thought I was going to spit up my iced tea when Paul Varghese said that the Indians took the English language and decided to use all 26 letters of the alphabet in their name. I like Mark Agee and his rant about vegans. I loved Chris Voth’s joke about the coke dealers using the metric system (“You can’t buy a gallon of cocaine”). Billy D. Washington was hilarious as was Saleem Muhammed, who’s wife told him he could add 21 minutes to his life by running a mile each day, but he relied it too him 22 minutes to run a mile. Funny, funny, funny. Unfortunately, none of them made the cut. I did like one comedian, Bob Biggerstaff, who is moving on. The other (why did the only choose 2?) Andi Smith – I am kinda on the fence with her. I will give her a chance though.
