Letoshua eliminated from American Princess

Only four girls were left this week, an important one in the elimination process because not only will the losing girl be going home she’s going to be the last girl eliminated before the ball in next week’s show.  Not that it feels good to lose at any point in time, but this week would be especially hard I think if you were sent home.

The show begins with the ladies getting a lesson in portrait painting by an artist who has painted an official portrait of the Queen.  The girls are then instructed to paint their own self portrait of how they see themselves or want to be portrayed as American Princess.  Jasmine, Clarissa and Cassie make a great effort to paint the portraits (meaning they took the assignment seriously) while Letoshua did not put in as much effort as the other girls.  Clarissa is named winner of the challenge (and the comment was made because of her end product without having any previous art training) and she is rewarded with an afternoon of clay pigeon shooting with two of the beaus.  She is allowed to select someone to go with her and she picks Jasmine.  Cassie and Letoshua are given the losing task of having to put together a puzzle which is actually a picture of the three judges.  Fun, fun, fun.

Since the big challenge for the girls this week is to attend a dinner party hosted by a Baron and Baroness they are given some instruction on some of the things they might be called on to do that evening.  They are taught by Jean Broke-Smith how to get out of a car like a lady – no Brittany Spears wannabes here!  They are taught to keep their legs together and pivot on the seat towards the door.  The girls also get a lesson in how to make a toast.  Finally they are brought to singing lessons, as they are going to be providing the entertainment after dinner at their party.  Paul also gave them some tips on the ins and outs of formal dining – what forks to use, etc.

Paul Burrell takes the girls on a ride in the country and stops at a village, the village where they can meet their “people” should they win the competition.  The title is Lady of the Manor of Netherfield.  I’m not sure if that is the correct spelling or not, but I have a question.  Wasn’t Netherfield the name of the home of Mr. Bingley in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice?  Anyway, the girls go to a local pub to meet some of the residents of the town and are told that if they are going to be Lady of the Manor of Netherfield then they needed to drink beer like a native.  I’m not sure if the girls drank the warm beer or not but we saw a shot of glasses being poured for them.

At the dinner party, they are greeted immediately upon getting out of their car by the receiving line.  From where the girls came from to today you can see a marked improvement in everyone – especially Cassie I think.  In this week’s show she has really come out of her shell.  She looked very appropriate for the dinner party and wowed everyone with her singing (the only one of the four who actually sounded as if she was a singer).  Not that everyone else didn’t give a good effort at singing because they did.  I’m a tone deaf terrible singer so it was impressive how well they did.  Not everyone has the ability to sing well, and they all did respectable jobs at this challenge.

After the party the girls start to drink and hang out with the beaus and this Polish Prince who was at the party.  The girls did not know he was a prince at the time.  I’m not too sure that the game of pick up the box of cereal with my mouth without using my hands while wearing a low cut gown was quite princess like, but who am I?

In the end Letoshua was eliminated.  Of the four girls who remained, she was a surprise to me that she was still there.  Jean again was arguing against Cassie moving forward which was a surprise.  She did the best out of any of the girls that week.  Jean is so hung up on her appearance, I think, but I disagree.  I think she has made a good appearance these past few weeks.

Right now I think the judges are leaning towards Clarissa wining the title.  They mentioned that Jasmine was bland and kind of boring and not able to keep up a conversation.  My favorite right now is Cassie, but usually the people I like don’t do well so that’s probably the kiss of death for her.

I really love Jasmine! I think it’s amazing how much she has developed throughout the show. She’s much more polished and feminine. However, if she didn’t win, I’d love to see Cassie crowned! I really don’t like Clarissa…there’s just something about her that irks me. She seems so…fake. Every time she’s on camera, she uses her little ‘Miss-Sunshine’ routine. I don’t believe we’ve seen the real Clarissa yet…
