Libbies Thoughts on the final 5
Tonight the five remaining contestants each sang two songs – one from the year they were born and one from the current charts. I loved that Elliott did one of my favorites, George Benson’s “On Broadway,’ however the judges were not quite as thrilled. I also liked his second song and most of the judges agreed. Guess who didn’t?
I hated Paris’ version of “Kiss,” but then maybe I am biased – that is my all time favorite Prince song. But, she did well with the Mary J. Blige song.
Chris did well and I realized last night, for the first time, that much to my dismay, he may very well win the whole thing. It is not that I don’t think he is a good singer, but the whole “Johnny Cash/Man in Black” thing is wearing thin on me. You are a rocker, we get it dude!
Taylor cannot seem to get over wanting to just have fun on stage. And, he did with “Play That Funky Music” but the judges hated it. Thank goodness, he rebounded with “Something.” Who could have known that the Beatles would be on the charts 30+ years after their breakup?
Katharine didn’t have a wardrobe malfunction this week, but her first song was a malfunction. She did much better on her second performance.
Overall, it is tough to say who will leave tonight. My digital phone was down, so I could not vote. If either Taylor or Elliott is voted off, I am blaming Time Warner!
