Louie Spence
Dancer, choreographer, and director Louis Spence knows what it will take for the “Celebrity Circus” performers to thrill the audience.
Louis, age 37, first began dancing when he was only five years old, attending dance classes with his sisters. When he was 12, he trained at Italia Conti. He appeared in Grange Hill and the musical Bugsy Malone. He continued his training at the London Studio Centre for three years after he turned 16. Right after Louis left the London Studio Centre to appear in Miss Saigon.
After Miss Saigon, Louie turned his attention towards more commercial dance venues. He appeared on the Spice Girls world tour and also appeared with Atomic Kitten. He appeared as the lead dance Mister Mistoffelees in the musical Cats at the New London Theatre.
After dancing professionally for almost 20 years, Louise decided to become the artistic director at the Pineapple Dance Studio. At the same time, he opened a dance agency called Edit. At Edit, he worked with celebrities such as Kylie, Ja Rule, Mary J. Blige, Emma Bunton, Will Young, Jamelia, and Rachel Stevens.
Through the agency, Louie got involved in television work. He is now in his third season on the teenage reality show “Bump n’ Grind.” Much like “So You Think You Can Dance,” “Bump n’ Grind” looks for the finest dance talent and rewards them with a yearlong contract with the dance agency AMCK. Louis also appeared as a judge on the show “Cirque de Celebrite,” the UK version of “Celebrity Circus.” Louie choreographed for the show “Big Brother Panto” and appeared as a dance expert on “Big Brother’s Big Mouth.”
Not only does Louie already have experience judging circus acts on television, he himself has experience as a contortionist and with Circus Tumbling (floor gymnastics). This experience along with his dance knowledge makes Louie a very tough, but fair judge for “Celebrity Circus”.
