Mandisa Eliminated from American Idol
Wow, tonight was a shocker to me! They divided the remaining 9 contestants into groups of three. When Taylor was called out first, I eagerly awaited to see if anyone I was sure was safe was in his group. I breathed a sigh of relief when Kellie joined him and then knew when Chris got there that Taylor was in a safe group. I figured Mandisa, Elliott and Paris were the safe group and someone from Ace, Katharine and Bucky would be going home. WRONG! I was shocked that the Mandisa, Elliott and Paris group was the bottom three. When they said Paris was safe, my heart sank. I like both Elliott and Mandisa and now one was going home. I thought I was going to pass out before Ryan said Elliott was safe. You could tell by the silence of the crowd that everyone was stunned. Poor Taylor did not know whether to clap or not (the camera caught him in mid-clap). I just sat there with my mouth open – Mandiva gone?
I don’t know, maybe it is just me, but I think Mandisa is far more talented than Ace, Bucky, and maybe even Katharine. I’ve heard rumors that it was her religion (that gospel song she sang was written by someone that is supposedly anti-gay) or her size, but American Idol shouldn’t be about that. I should be about who can sing and Mandisa could sing. America made a mistake tonight, but I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Mandisa.
