Manhunters: Najee Bell and Bruce Roman
On this week’s “Manhunters,” Pep was back in his old stomping ground of Neward, NJ looking for gang members. Najee Bell was wanted for robbery and weapons possession. He was only 19 years old but had 7 prior arrests, including one for possession of a machine gun. Bruce Roman was wanted for murder, having shot two people with a machine gun, one of which died.
The team had confidential informants tell them that Bell was living with his baby mama. They found an address for her, but the super said they had left in the middle of the night a few days ago. The team found out it was her mother’s apartment, so they looked for another address for her and found one. They saw lights on in the top floor, but after knocking on the first floor door, the lights went out. Someone finally answered the door and they found Bell trying to go up into a crawlspace.
Matt found some info on Roman’s family, so they went to talk to his sister. She wouldn’t say anything, so they went to another sister’s workplace. She got nasty with them, which made Pep angry. They tried asking about him on the street and still got nothing. Pep decided it would take more to find Roman – he started rounding up members of the Bloods who had warrants for their arrest, figuring someone would eventually talk. I just love Pep. Someone finally gave them an address where Roman was hiding out and they found him.
Bell pled guilty to robbery, but failed to appear in court for sentencing. There is now a warrant out for his arrest. Roman is awaiting trial for murder charges.
