Matched in Manhattan: Matt Helps Abiola
Tonight, Matt set out to help a lifer wifer – a woman who married and thought she’d be with her husband for the rest of her life. But after Abiola, a TV host and author, divorced, she realized she was lacking in dating skills. One problem was she took her friends on her dates. That was a big no-no with Matt. He met with her and her friends to give them a little male perspective to dating. He told them to meet men in lines, to smile to attract their attention, and reminded them not to kiss on the first date because men enjoy a challenge.
Matt heard from Eddie that another client, Linda, had once again taken her dog on a date. Matt told him to set up an appointment with her ASAP. He told her to leave the dog at home on her next date. She called in a panic when her dog sitter cancelled at the last minute, but Matt took the dog home with him. He and Tamsen already had two dogs and she wanted another one – until Linda’s dog visited! That changed her mind. But, Linda’s date didn’t go so well. Even though the dog wasn’t on the date, it was almost all Linda could talk about.
Matt then set out to find Abiola the perfect date. He hit the streets with his wife Tamsen looking for the ideal guy. After finding a bunch of married men, they found Anthony – a perfect match. The date went well, but hit a bumpy spot when Abiola asked Anthony’s sign. When he told her Cancer, she said O.J. was a Cancer – yikes! But, they recovered well. When he asked her about her previous relationship, she remained coy and didn’t spill her guts, just as Matt had instructed. Anthony said the date was exceptional and Abiola admitted when she first saw him, she though “I’m in love with him – I want to marry him.” But, then she cooled her heels and decided that she liked Anthony, but he wasn’t the only fish in the sea. She said she had gone from a lifer wifer to a dating diva!

LOVED this episode! Although I am not a “lifer-wifer,” I have a history of long term relationships, and Matt’s advice really helped me!
