Maurice Greene is eliminated from Dancing With The Stars
With only two weeks left to go before the finale of Dancing With The Stars I can’t wait to find out who is saved and who goes home. But alas, we must sit through an hour long results show to find out what I want to know. Of course I could just tune in at 9:45 but what fun would that be? Whatever would I be able to be catty about in my post?
We begin the show with a judges’ roundtable discussion that was taped after last night’s show. In other words, a recap of the show but not a recap because the producers are putting a different spin on it. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t we just get a recap of last night’s show from 8 to 9 tonight? We then find out that the judges want to see Warren and Kym’s tango as the encore performance. I don’t like the tango so I’m not impressed.
After the commercial we see Brad Paisley performing his song “Ticks” accompanied by Lacey and her brother Benji Schwimmer. The song was fun, but the performance didn’t do much for me. It seemed to crazy, too frantic. Plus there was this vibe around the performance. I can’t explain it more than saying it was just weird. A leaderboard recap and then we find out that Warren and Kym and Lance and Lacey are safe.
The first part of the “couples therapy” sessions with Dr. Drew Pinsky aired and we saw conversations with Lance, Warren, Maurice and their partners. Let’s just say that Mr. Sapp is not lacking in confidence.
The Macy’s Stars of Dance was up next, and this was the final product from the design a dance feature on abc.com. The viewers got to choose the dance style, song, and pros who would compete and a fan won the right to design the costumes. The pros that were selected were Derek Hough and Julianne Hough and damn, Julianne looked great for just having surgery two weeks ago. The song was “Great Balls of Fire” and they performed a jive. I thought it was great how they incorporated the winner of the costume design portion of the contest into the performance (her and her husband – or male companion since we don’t know if it was in fact her hubby).
After commercial break – part 2 of the interviews with Dr. Drew. Let me just say this. I love Cody. I liked him from the start but he was so sweet and open and honest in this spot and his feelings for Julianne were so obvious. He is so young but so mature in many ways. Most men twice his age or older wouldn’t be confident enough to share their feelings the way he did.
Brad Paisley was back to perform another song, along with the pros from the Dancing With The Stars tour: Kym, Edyta, Karina , Alec, Maks and a male pro I didn’t recognize. As always the pros were amazing. After the performance Tom Bergeron shamelessly plugged the live tour, but it was interesting to find out that Maks is choreographing this one.
A bit about the anatomy of a dancer (time waster) and then we find out that Brooke and Derek are safe, leaving Maurice and Cheryl and Cody and Edyta in jeopardy (not a bottom two necessarily). In the end it was Maurice who was sent home. I’m glad that Cody made it. He’s my new favorite and I can’t wait to see him dance with Julianne again next week.
