Men’s night on Grease: You’re the one that I want
The claws are coming out as we near the end of the competition. Billy Bush made a comment that the honeymoon was over (in terms of the judges and their comments). I’d say that was a pretty accurate description tonight.
David is truly the money man of the panel. OK, you can sing, dance and act but can you sell tickets at $71.50 a pop for the cheap seats? Yes, I went online to Ticketmaster and the price range of the tickets goes anywhere from $71.50 to $201.50. David also distanced himself pretty well from Jim and Kathleen when it came to the Sandy sing off. More on that in a minute.
Tonight was the guys’ night to perform and shine. Of the four remaining contestants, only one of them was a standout – Max. How about the backstage romance between Max and Allie? Do we think it’s serious or just a way to use sex to sell the show?
Austin started off tonight and the judges wanted to see him be more fun and charming. The male judges didn’t see it in his performance, but Kathleen thought he was great. Derek performed next and was trying to portray himself as a romantic lead. Again the guys thought his performance was less than stellar but Kathleen thought he was beautiful and romantic. Again I was reminded about how much he looks like John Stamos when I saw the Propel Fitness Water commercial after his performance. Max performed third and I already mentioned how all the judges liked him and picked him as their Danny after tonight’s performance. Chad performed last. Jim called him a “pretty guy” and said he was too pretty to be Danny, but David said that this pretty guy could sell a lot of tickets for him.
In the Sandy sing off tonight Allie and Kathleen were in the bottom three. Allie had the least amount of popular votes but the judges saved her. David made it clear that he did not want to save her, that the decision was Jim’s and Kathleen’s and that the majority rules. After listening to his comments I could see him sitting there thinking which woman would sell more tickets and make him more money.
We got no hints as to what we’ll see in the next installment of the show. As we near the finals the claws are coming out. In the “behind the scenes” clips we saw how catty the men could be. Do you really think that the women are all sweetness and light or are the directors and producers trying to get us to think a certain way about the guys? And is this a backhanded attempt to influence who we vote for as Danny? We’ll have to wait and find out.
