Millionaire Matchmaker: The Season Premiere
In this season opener, we met Patti Stanger, founder and CEO of the Millionaire’s Club. It seems that even millionaires have trouble with finding love. But, they are willing to pay $10,000 to $150,000 to find it. Also in the office is Chelsea, the VP of Matching, which means she finds the girls and Alison, in Sales and Marketing. Destin seems to be the catch all as office manager/personal assistant.
Tonight’s episode dealt with two bachelor millionaires: Dave and Harold. Harold is 46 years old, never married, and finally ready to settle down. Unfortunately, for Patti, he wants to settle down with a 20 something trophy wife. Dave is in the adult products business and his friends call him “Sex Toy Dave.” Oh, that is bad.
Patti tries to dissuade Harold from the 20 year olds for a more mature woman, but he acts as if he is picking a new car off the lot. She tries to get Dave to clean up his house – including the stripper pole, which, scary enough, he knows how to use with skill. He refuses, which basically means that both are little boys unwilling to change to get what they seem to think they want.
Patti sets up a cocktail party at Hollywood Park with 10-20 girls for the guys to meet. After bashing Chelsea and Alison for bringing in uneducated women, they finally hit on a few Patti likes. Each man mingled for a bit, then choose three girls for mini dates. From those, both would pick one for a real date.
Harold picked Sarah, whom Patti thought would be great for Dave, to go on a date on his yacht. Sarah was WAY too young. Dave didn’t know the music she listened to or the movies she had seen – even the old ones! He wanted a second date, but when he called, she didn’t return his call. After following up with her, she told Patti he was just too old.
Dave took Brooke, a Harvard grad medical researcher, to dinner. They seemed to hit it off at first, but I think the stripper pole may have been a bit much for her. Then Dave blew it by having a pool party without inviting her. They did make a second date, but decided they weren’t right for each other. Dave doesn’t want to change his party boy ways, which makes Patti think he really isn’t ready to settle down.
So, as it stands, the Millionaire Matchmaker is 0-2.
