My standouts from American Idol
There were four standouts in tonight’s Ladies Night on American Idol. Mandisa started out with a solid performance of Never by Heart, but was later upstaged by Lisa and Katherine. Even Simon said Katherine, the last contestant, put in the best performance of the night. Paula said Melissa had a “shining moment” with her song. I thought her singing was great. Simon agreed, but called her performance was “lifeless.” Kinnik did a good job on Get Here, but was squeezed in between the younger performers that really knocked socks off. I think Stevie is good, but all the judges agreed that she chose a poor song. Paris, with her Tootie from The Facts of Life hairdo, belted out Midnight Train to Georgia, but I still think Lisa outshined her. The shock of the night came when Brenna sang the bland “You are the Sunshine of My Life.” All three judges got on her for choosing a safe song with no attitude. In my opinion, Heather and Brenna were both boring, forgettable and should be the first two to leave. In my honest opinion, it will be a race between Lisa and Katherine as far as the women are concerned.
