My take on night 1 of the DWTS finale
Is it me or does it seem that one celebrity really takes it to another level in the finale of DWTS while the others don’t? That’s how I saw the performances of Brooke and Derek last night in part 1 of the finale. I thought they did a great job in the Samba smackdown. What is Carrie Ann’s problem? She is so obviously biased against Brooke and so biased towards the male celebrities that it isn’t even funny. She tried to be all enthusiastic when Brooke finished the Freestyle but after what the other judges said there was no way she could have said anything bad. Len said it was the best freestyle he’s ever seen (and he’s judged a lot of seasons of DWTS in the US and Strictly Come Dancing in the UK so he’s seen quite a few). Bruno loves her. What was it with him and all the sexual innuendos last night? He needs to get some I think.
Lance and Lacey and their freestyle was just OK. I thought they could have done an amazing Hip Hop routine that would have blown everyone away. Didn’t Julianne and Apollo do Hip Hop for their freestyle? When I saw the interview before the performance and he said that they were not going to do any lifts (to keep the true flavor of Hip Hop) I said to myself that this would be a mistake.
And how on this green earth could Len have given Warren a 10 for his freestyle (even if it was for entertainment value)? Aren’t the judges supposed to be critiquing dancing performance, technical skills, and content? That’s ridiculous. It almost seems as if the producers encouraged him to do so, then he and Lance would end up with the same score at the end of the night. Kym’s costume was so distracting. It kept molting all over the stage. How about Tom Bergeron and the comment on Edyta and her lack of material in costumes? Has he even looked at what Kym has worn these past two weeks (like the costume she wore during the Jitterbug).
My choice for champion tonight is Brooke. She’s awesome. Can you believe that this woman has given birth to four children with a body like that? My gut is telling me that Warren will win, because he is so energetic, charismatic and overall likeable. Over the past seasons the winner usually is the most technically proficient so I hope that Brooke pulls it out in the end. I just hope the producers do more to keep me entertained and engaged for two hours than what they did last night for the hour and a half. That first whole half hour (excluding the naming of junior champs) was a pure waste of time.
