Natalie Coughlin eliminated from Dancing With The Stars
The elimination show of Dancing With The Stars began with a recap of last night’s show. This was followed by the encore performance chosen by the judges. Len said they wanted to see the dance that has gotten the highest score so far this season, and that was the Argentine Tango of Donny and Kym.
After commercial there was a live musical performance by Norah Jones. It was performed on the show’s “new” musical stage. I guess that after so many seasons the producers think they need to do new things to keep the audience interested. Some of them will work, while others (like the Country Two Step) might not be as successful. It’s followed by a piece where some of the pros and celebrities reveal that “everyone is afraid of leaving” and the first elimination announcement. The top three scoring couples from last night were on stage, and we find out that all three are safe: Mark and Lacey, Donny and Kym and Mya and Dmitry.
There’s a piece about what happens on show day with the celebrities and it’s followed by another elimination announcement. The three couples that tied with 24 points are on stage to find out their fate. Kelly and Louis are safe, while Joanna and Derek and Aaron and Karina are in jeopardy.
Elimination announcements follow after the commercial, with the lowest scoring male and female celebrities on stage. Michael and Anna are safe, while Natalie and Alec are in jeopardy. After a meaningless time filling interview Norah Jones returns to perform “Come Away With Me” accompanied by Jonathan and Anna. It was their wedding song so it was really nice to watch them perform together.
The remaining two couples were on stage after the commercial break to hear their fate. Louie and Chelsie are safe, while Melissa and Mark are still in jeopardy. It’s followed by the Macy’s Stars of Dance tribute to Michael Jackson. The professional dancers on this show are amazing, and while the performance was good I was kind of expecting something truly spectacular. I didn’t get this from the routine.
At the end of the night we find out that the bottom two couples are Aaron and Karina and Natalie and Alec. The celebrity eliminated tonight and leaving the competition is Natalie Coughlin.
