New program on the Food Network: Food Detectives
I was at the gym this morning and got the chance to see Good Morning America and a bit with Ted Allen, host of the new Food Network show Food Detectives. The whole premise of the show is to disprove, or prove, food myths.
During the time on Good Morning America, Ted reported the results of his testing done with his team of “culinary sleuths.” The first myth: double dipping is bad for you. This was proven true. Next: you shouldn’t swallow gum because it stays in your stomach for seven years. Partially true. Gum is hard to digest, but it does eventually pass out of your body naturally. The final myth: you can’t eat six saltines in a minute without taking a sip of water. The regular hosts of Good Morning America – Diane Sawyer, Chris Cuomo, Robin Roberts, and Sam Champion – put this myth to the test themselves. The outcome – no one was able to do it.
Ted Allen became well known as the food expert on the Bravo TV program “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.” He is also a regular judge on the popular cooking reality series “Top Chef” and has served as a judge on the show “Iron Chef America.”
The first episode of “Food Detectives” airs on July 29th at 9:00 pm Eastern time.
