Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson has built a career out of being sexy.  But, in doing that, she has become a model, producer, actress, spokesperson, and author.   On July 9, Pamela will be featured in her own E! reality series, Pam:  Girl on the Loose.

Pamela Denise Anderson was born on July 1, 1967 in British Columbia.  She was born at 4:08 am on Canada’s Centennial, which won her acclaim, as she was the first baby born on that day.

After Pamela graduated from Highland Secondary School in 1985, she began working as a fitness instructor in Vancouver.  While attending a BC Lions game in 1989, Pamela was shown on the big screen wearing a Labatt’s t-shirt.  Once Labatt’s saw how popular she was with the crowd, they offered her a modeling contract.  Before the end of the year was out, she had agreed to model for the magazine that would make her famous – Playboy.  Pamela first appeared on the October 1989 cover.  She was again featured as a playmate in February 1990 and all in all, Pamela has appeared on the cover of the magazine a record breaking twelve times.

In the early 90s, Pamela started her acting career with a small role as the Tool Time Girl on “Home Improvement.”  But it was “Baywatch,” the show about California lifeguards, which made her a household name.  Pamela’s first feature film was “Barb Wire,” but it failed to do well at the box office.  She produced her own series “V.I.P,” in which she starred as the lead character, Vallery Irons.  “V.I.P” ran from 1998 until 2002.  She starred in a Fox sitcom called “Stacked” in 2005, but the show only ran two seasons.  She was featured on Comedy Central’s “Roast of Pamela Anderson.”  In July 2008, she made a three day appearance on Australia’s Big Brother reality series.

In 2004, Pam became an author as her fictional book “Star” was released.  The book was co-written by Eric Shaw Quinn.  She released her second book, “Star Struck”, in 1995.  Many felt “Star Struck” was a thinly veiled story of Pamela’s own life.

Pamela’s personal life has often been in the spotlight as much as her professional life.  She married rocker Tommy Lee in 1995.  That marriage produced two sons, Brandon (age 12) and Dylan (age 10).  However, the relationship was not a smooth one.  Tommy Lee served six months in jail for spousal abuse against Pamela in 1998.  The two were divorced in 1998 after several reconciliation attempts.  After a brief engagement to model Marcus Schenkenberg, she became engaged to Kid Rock, but the announced that relationship was over in 2003.  However, the two did end up marrying in 2006.  Pamela miscarried in November 2006 and seventeen days later, filed for divorce from Kid Rock.  In 2007, Pamela married Rick Salmon (who had once dated Paris Hilton) in Las Vegas, but that marriage ended after only four months.  Currently, rumors are circulating that Pamela and Tommy Lee are living together again.

Scandal often seems to follow Pamela.  She has often been ridiculed for her breast implants, which she received when she first moved to LA.  There have been two sex videos of her circulated on the Internet (one with first husband Tommy Lee and one with then-boyfriend Bret Michaels).  Pamela found out she had Hepatitis C in 2002 and blamed it on Lee.

Yet Pamela has devoted much of her time to charities.  She is a vegetarian and very devoted to the animal rights organization PETA.  She’s been featured in several ad campaigns for them.  Because of her animal rights advocacy, she was the first to receive the Linda McCartney Memorial Award.  Pamela has also spoken out against the seal hunting that occurs in her native country of Canada.  In addition to animal rights, Pamela is also a spokesperson for the MAC Cosmetic’s MAC AIDS Fund as well as the American liver Foundation.
