Pepe and Stacy are fired on tonight’s Apprentice
In the vignette where The Donald shares some wisdom, Trump speaks about people. Outward appearances and actions can be deceiving – sometimes the people you think can’t succeed are the ones that will in the end. Brent was probably the main reason Trump chose to talk about people and appearances and not judging a book by its cover.
Tonight Brent was most certainly a distraction for Synergy Corporation. Personally I think he’s a jackass. However, I will not deny his intelligence, savvy and determination. For supposedly smart people, the rest of Synergy Corporation didn’t recognize that.
The challenge tonight was to create a text messaging marketing campaign for Gilette and their new shaving system. Each company was to come up with a keyword that people would text to a certain number. The company that had the most text messages wins. This seems like a simple concept, but the majority of the contestants just didn’t get it. Gold Rush Corporation was lucky to have Lenny recognize that fact and bring Charmaine and Leslie to his way of thinking. Lee and the rest of the corporation was worried about marketing keywords and other things. Lenny brought the challenge down to its most basic level. Volume was going to win this challenge – not board room strategizing.
Synergy just didn’t get it. The Gold Rush Corporation was up and out of the loft before any member of Synergy even woke up. They didn’t get to Times Square until almost Noon, and then they chose poor locations to get their message across. (In fact, Gold Rush had 100 messages in the bank before Synergy even got started that day.) Plus they were trying to market this idea while wearing bathrobes – a fact Trump criticized when Gold Rush ended up in the Boardroom. Synergy wins the challenge with 683 text messages, while Gold Rush had only 458 text messages.
Most of the members of the Gold Rush Corporation decide that Brent is the reason they lost. His antics and confrontation with Stacy took up too much time and energy and caused them to lose focus. When they get to the Boardroom, mostly everyone chimes in saying Brent is a distraction, Brent is the reason they lost, and so on. Stacy tells Trump that Brent threatened her in the hallway and she was scared. Trump tells her that he doesn’t believe that for one minute. First, Stacy is a criminal attorney and deals with scarier people all the time. Second, Trump says take a look at Brent – is he really that threatening?
Gold Rush beat Synergy by a margin of almost 50%. Since this loss was so bad Trump announces he is going to fire two people tonight. Pepe brings Michael (who thought of the bathrobe idea), Stacy, and Brent back in with him.
In the end Trump does fire two people. First, he fires Stacy because she failed miserably in picking the location for the marketing campaign. Second, he stated that if she can’t handle and deal with Brent there’s no way she’d be able to handle his business. Trump also fires Pepe, mainly because of a lack of leadership. He closes by saying to Michael that he made a poor decision this time but would let him stay. He also told Brent that he most likely won’t be around too much longer.
