Project Runway: Johnny is Eliminated
Things got catty this week on “Project Runway.” The challenge was to make a paper dress – literally. The designers had to use the LA Times to make a dress. Johnny started his dress, but panicked when Tim told him it looked like a craft project gone awry. Johnny tried to explain it would look like the origami birds were holding up the dress (kind of a cool concept), but Tim is it looked like the birds were attacking the dress. Nicolas thought this was funny and kept dissing Johnny the whole time, saying he didn’t belong there.
What was funny was Nicolas landed in the bottom three with Johnny! Some of the dresses were gorgeous. I loved, loved, loved Christopher’s featherly looking dress. Guest judge Tommy Hilfiger called it sexy and said, “It’s a wow.” Also a judge favorite was Althea’s dress. Guest judge Zoe Glassner (Sr. Editor at Marie Clare) called it “exquisite.” But, it was Irina’s trench coat that really blew the judges away, especially guest judge Eva Longoria Parker. I liked it, but wish she had dyed some of the paper to give it some color. Irina ended up being named the winner.
Joining Nicolas and Johnny in the bottom three were Gordona. I felt a bit sorry for her as it seemed she might have misinterpreted what the judges wanted. They called her dress safe, but she wanted to create something that didn’t look like it was made of paper and she did. She was told she was safe.
Johnny fabricated a story that his first dress was ruined by a steamer, but even Hilfiger didn’t buy that story. Nicolas rolled his eyes as Johnny told his sob story then when asked about it by Heidi, he said the first dress was a “red mess.” Johnny called him a “jerk.” The judges felt Nicolas’ punk look was anything but. In fact, Zoe thought it made the model look like an insect. Ouch.
They ended up telling Johnny he was out.
