Real World Cancun: Joey Leaves the Show
I know I am getting old because this week’s “Real World” irritated me. It was all about promiscuity, irresponsibility, and the consequences. It seems as if most of the roommates only had on thing on their minds – getting laid! Bronne hooked up with one Playboy model (Vicky), then tried to hookup with a second (Amber), but she approached Joey, who had previously hooked up with Courtney. Bronne was a bit angry at Joey for not respecting guy code and flirting with Amber. They decided that if Joey could “seal the deal” within 24 hours, he could have her. As it worked out, it was Emily that came closest to sealing the deal with Amber, so both Joey and Bronne lost out. Jasmine had decided to have sex with Pat, but she must have majorly misread the signs. Even I could tell Pat wasn’t that type of guy. She slipped him a note, promising a surprise, and then took him back to the suite. He complained about her smoking then kissing him and when she tried to put her best moves on him, he said he wants to get to know her better first and left. Jasmine didn’t handle it well, but at least Joey offered to help ease her sexual frustration. Jonna further complicated things by flirting with Pat, which irritated Jasmine and broke girl code. Somewhere in all this, Derek hooked up with Jason.
If you missed last week, one of the StudentCity bosses caught Joey drunk. I think that was the first rule of working for StudentyCity – don’t get caught drunk in public. But, they decided to give him a second chance. He worked really hard at the LMFAO concerts, something Ayiiia couldn’t be bothered to do. But, as part of his punishment, he had to work the breakfast shift the day after LMFAO came over to the suite to party.
Joey and CJ didn’t go to sleep until 4:30 am, but Joey asked CJ to set his clock for 8 am. It really wasn’t a clock, it was a wrist watch that did go off, but probably wouldn’t have woken up anyone that hadn’t had at least 8 hours of sleep. Naturally, the guys slept until 9:45 am. Joey called Christina and she told him he missed his shift and they were coming over. She came over and told him that was it – they had given him a second chance, he blew it, and she had a plane ticket for him to go home.
This is what irritates me – Joey blamed it on the alarm clock. He even let CJ try to take the blame, saying the alarm didn’t go off. Christina tried to explain to Joey that they had given him a second chance and he blew it, but he acted like a baby and didn’t want to talk or even look at her.
If he hadn’t been drunk in public before, StudentCity might have overlooked this. Yes, he worked hard at the concert and did a good job, but Christina said they would rather have a warm body (Ayiiia) than someone who missed shifts (Joey). He didn’t even get to say goodbye to Jasmine, Jonna, and Ayiiia because they were somewhere else. Of course, Ayiiia was ecstatic, saying karma had gotten him. I hope Ayiiia realizes karma works both ways!

If Ayiiia was really smart she stopped the alarm. I am sure mtv has the video of the alarm being put off, because in the show they also showed the alarm ringing. I wonder if they are going to show how it got off again…
