Reality News: ‘The Biggest Loser’ is Renewed for a Fifth Season
Just a few weeks after the fourth season premiere, NBC has announced that “The Biggest Loser” will be renewed for a fifth season. And with good reason! “The Biggest Loser” is a big winner for NBC. Its fourth season premiere brought in 7.8 million viewers and the second episode brought in even more – 7.9 million viewers. NBC executive vice president Craig Plestis said, “We look forward to the fifth cycle of the show, and continuing to entertain and inspire viewers all over the country as they watch these remarkable contestants achieve life-changing results.”
But, NBC is taking a clue from CBS’ “Big Brother” and is adding a twist to the fifth season. Next year, you will see contestants paired with someone with which they have a pre-existing relationship – such as coworkers or a mother/daughter pair. Maybe they got the idea from this year’s twin brother contestants Jim and Bill. One thing will remain the same – new host Alison Sweeney will return for season five.
