Reality News: Laila Ali to Co-Host “American Gladiators”
She danced a heck of a rumba with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, finished third on “Dancing with the Stars,” and has had a very impressive boxing career, but now Laila Ali will be dealing with a different type of athleticism – American Gladiators.
It has just been announced the Laila and wrestling legend Hulk Hogan will be the hosts of “American Gladiator,” the syndicated show that was so popular in the late 80s and early 90s that is being revived by NBC. The new version will be similar to the original – real people compete against the eight professional gladiators (four male and four female) in such challenges as The Joust, The Wall, and the Eliminator. Of course, the new version will offer bigger thrills and impacts with the latest technology and special effects.
Laila was quoted as saying, “It’s an honor to be reintroducing this American classic to a new generation of fans.” The new show is produced by MGM Television, who originally produced the show, and Reveille, who is responsible for such hits as “The Office” and “The Biggest Loser.”
