Reality News: Project Runway Stuck in Limbo?
“Project Runway” has been a highly rate reality show on Bravo for five seasons, but earlier this year, it was announced that the show would be moving to the Lifetime Television Network. The decision was made by the producers, Weinstein Company, after a reported $150 million dollar deal was made with Lifetime.
However, NBC Universal, which owns Bravo, filed a lawsuit against the Weinstein Company, saying that it has violated its contract rights. A New York Supreme Court judge has said that, at least for now, “Project Runway” cannot move to Lifetime due to violations, saying the Weinstein Company didn’t give NBC Universal “right of first refusal.”
Weinstein Company has said it will appeal the decision and Lifetime network released a statement saying it was disappointed with the ruling. Right now, neither Lifetime nor the Weinstein Company can promote, market, or air “Project Runway.” The new season was expected to air on Lifetime in January.
All I know is I love this show and although season five is not over yet, am eagerly awaiting the next season. I hope everyone involved gets this all worked out so the new season isn’t delayed.
