Reality News: Survivor Scandal: Denise Comes Clean
If you watched the Survivor China finale Sunday night, you saw Denise, the loveable lunch lady, complain about how she was removed from her lunch lady position because she was a “distraction” to the kids. She said she was a janitor now and working second shift, which caused her to miss many family events. The producers felt sorry for her and gave her $50,000 on the live show.
But, when fans started inundating the school Denise worked at with nasty letters, superintendent Nancy T. Lane came out with the real story. Denise had been promoted to the custodial position, which had better benefits and a higher salary, in March 2007 – long before she began shooting Survivor. And after Survivor was over, she returned to that position.
Denise has since said that Lane’s account of the situation is true, but that she loved the lunchroom detail so much, she longed to return. When asked if she would keep the $50,000 (if it was still offered), Denise said, “I had no idea that I was going to be awarded that. I did not do this for myself, I’ve done this for my family, I’ve done this for my town.”
Hum, that is neither a yes nor a no, so I guess we will have to wait and see what develops in this story.
