Reality News: Updates on Former “Idols”
Season two runner-up Clay Aiken will be joining the Broadway cast of Monty Python’s pamalot. Aiken, a fan favorite, will be appearing as Sir Robin in the Tony Award winning musical beginning January 18th. He will appear in the musical until May 4th and says he has a “wonderful group of people to work with.” The musical’s co-author, legendary Python Eric Idle, calls working with Aiken “great news” and says “I have been a Clay Aiken fan every since I took my daughter to see him live on the second season of American Idol.”
Spamalot won the Tony for Best Musical, but also got a Grammy for Best Cast Recording. It is based on the 1975 movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Melinda Doolittle didn’t win season six many predicted, but the third place finisher did land the job of hosting Belmont University’s annual “Christmas at Belmont” concert. She will also be performing in the concert, which will take place on November 19th. It will air on PBS this Christmas Eve at 10 pm ET.
Melinda graduated from Belmont University in 1999 with a degree in commercial voice.
