Red’s Not Dead
This week started with the Red Team still feeling a little low over the loss of Jenn and the Blue Team feeling they were one unit. Kenneth got a call that his son was in the CCU, but he decided to stay and try to continue to lose for his family. The teams were taken to the beach to workout. The Red Team was silent when they heard, but the Blue Team seemed excited to go. They both received grueling workouts in the sand.
Both teams turned down a temptation of chocolate, a carrot, or immunity in sandcastles, which showed their will power. After a low fat barbecue, they went to the challenge. It was to build up enough sand into a mound so someone on the team could reach a flag 14 feet in the air. The incentive to win was that the winners got care packages from home. It looked like poor Nelson broke Wylie’s neck trying to jump for the flag, but he was fine and they went on. The Red Team ended up winning, but the Blue Team was determined to win the weigh-in.
Unfortunately, they didn’t win that either. It was not EVEN close! For winning the competition, the Red Team got to take one Blue Team member off. They chose Erik, which was a good choice because he had lost 16 pounds (tied for highest weight loss on the Blue Team). The Blue Team lost 55 pounds (3.34%), but the Red Team lost 79 pounds (4.60%). Ken lost 20 pounds, which made him very proud as he was trying so hard for his son.
Marty won immunity for the Blue Team. The votes weren’t even close. They chose to send Tiffany home (with Melinda receiving one vote). Including weight lost during the show, Tiffany has lost 30 pounds total.
