Ricky is eliminated from Project Runway
I started reading Anthony Bourdain’s blog on Bravo TV during the finale of season 3 of Top Chef. He made a comment that the quickfire challenge given to the finalists was a waste of talent – it was a waste of the talent of the contestants and a waste of the talent of the guest judge Eric Ripert. I think the same can be said of this week’s episode of Project Runway.
The challenge given to the remaining six contestants was to make a “costume” for a WWE Diva (World Wrestling Entertainment). Now in a nutshell the outfits these women wear are sexy and small – the kind of outfits you see on other television shows when a stripper is portrayed is a way to describe them. The outfit had to reflect the wrestler’s ring persona.
A lot of the designers were not comfortable with this challenge. Christian and Chris seemed to really embrace it. Christian went so far as to say that the outfit he created for his WWE Diva Crystal was one of his favorite outfits he created so far in the competition. It showed, as he, Chris and Jillian were picked as the top three designers by the regular judges and guest judges Richie Rich and Traver Rains, designers for Heatherette. Chris won the challenge, and I was so happy for him. I think he is a great designer when he reigns himself in as he did last night.
The bottom three designers were Rami, Sweet P and Ricky. Rami did this hot pink draped outfit for his diva; Sweet P this kind of boring silvery white number that was not really well received by her WWE Diva, and Ricky did an orange outfit that was more of a bathing suit than a wrestling costume. The judges put Sweet P and Ricky in the bottom two, with Ricky being eliminated.

I feel like Ricky has been hanging on by a thread for a while now - well, except last week when he won! I just hope that doesn’t happen to Chris next week. I was so glad to see him win. I love Christian’s outfit too, but why does he always have to be so pissy when he doesn’t win?
