Season 9 - Episode 2

Lisa and Joni elimiated. Here is a recap of the show:

BJ and Tyler, also known as the “Hippies, had another great week. Their past experiences and working together is apparent, as they continue to beat the other teams in almost every adventure. Their excitement about the race is endearing, and I think they will be there until the end.

Eric and Jeremy, also known as the “Frat Boys,” continue to do well in the race and continue to obsess about the women in the race. The boys, who pay close attention to the prostitutes in Brazil, admit that if they get a little sex in the race, they’d be happy. Although they are extremely strong competitors, I still wonder if this distraction will be their downfall.

Joseph and Monica, referred to as Ken and Barbie or MoJo, did well in the race, and seem to be enjoying both the race and each other. Monica’s statement “I am dirty… and I love it!” really sums it up. That is what the race is all about. I like them and think their attitude and abilities will take them far in the race.

David and Loricontinue to hang in there, with their cooperation with one another keeping them in the race. I wonder, as the challenges get more physical, if that alone will keep them in the running. Their affection still creeps me out a little, but it seems to be working for them for now.

Ray and Yolandaare strong competitors who have just not yet shown what they are capable of. Both are extremely athletic, and don’t like to lose. Although they came in 5th, you can tell that they are not proud of their performance thus far, and hope to do better. I don’t think they will settle for anything other than first, and look forward to seeing what they will be able to do with the rest of the race.

Wanda and Desiree continue to be a strong team. They mother-daughter team seem to balance each other out, and that works. I slight oversight in the directions convinced them that they would be eliminated this week. When they found out they were actually in 6th, their enthusiasm was renewed. Their abilities and excitement, I predict, will carry them for at least a couple more weeks.

Lake and Michelle are a little disturbing. Lake has the tendency to be bossy and over-powering. In dealing with the errors they have made, Lake has no patience and gets really upset. When they are doing well, everything is great, but when they aren’t, they REALLY aren’t. In the very near future I can see Michelle in tears, and Lake screaming at her as they pull up short to the Pit stop.

Danielle and Dani had a trying leg of the race with Danielle forced to face a fear of heights. They admittedly stated that they thought their “femininity” was going to get them further than it has. They have realized that it is really about who wants to win it most. I think they will do better now that they have realized this, and should last a few more rounds.

Fran and Berry continue to struggle in the race. They continue to be plagued, this time by car troubles, but managed to hang in there. Although the team is experienced, and probably has a high level of endurance from all their activities, their lack of strength on the repelling adventure today was apparent. They just haven’t chosen the challenges that they would excel at, and that may be their downfall.

Lisa and Joni had a bad race, and ended up last. It is no surprise the sisters were eliminated this week. Although they did provide a comical relief with their great sense of humor, they struggled from day one. They continued to freak out on a regular basis, complaining about driving and finding their way. The sisters claim to have gotten closer through this experience, and in that sense they are not losers.

It is becoming obvious that the teams doing the best have a great combination of common sense, physical strength, an excitement about the game, and teamwork. That being said, as much as I would like it not to be, I predict Fran and Berry will be the next to be eliminated. They don’t have physical strength to compete in the challenges they are choosing, and therefore will not last long.
