Season Premiere of Million Dollar Listing
“Million Dollar Listing,” Bravo’s new reality show, seems to be as much about the realtors themselves as the actual listings. Tonight’s show featured homes in Hollywood and Malibu.
Madison was the agent for the gorgeous Trancas Canyon home that overlooked the ocean. Only problem was it was only about half renovated. It was listed “as is” for $3.195 million. Madison met up with a potential buyer, Greg, who also brought another agent that works in Madison’s office, Scotty. Greg made an offer of $2.195. The offer was accepted on a handshake. However, later on, the seller met with another buyer who offered his full asking price. After Greg looked at another property (definitely not worth $10 million in my eyes!), he finally got Madison to talk the seller into taking his lower offer. Madison made $95,850 commission – not bad!
The other house was in Hollywood. Shannon was trying to sell the house for her ex-fiancé. It was a true bachelor’s pad, but a beautiful house none the less. After forgetting to put an open house ad in the paper, she only had one set of visitors during the first open house. And that was people that just closed on a house down the street! Apparently, going to open houses is a hobby in LA. The second open house brought an offer by a lawyer, however Shannon found that trying to represent both the buyer and the seller to double her commission was a nightmare. The owner wasn’t willing to pay for repairs and the buyer wasn’t going to buy without them. It seemed most of the stuff she asked for was petty anyhow. So, the owner finally decided to take the house off the market and Shannon missed out on a $114,000 commission. Plus, she still seemed heartbroken about the broken romance.

This is a cool show… especially the Hollywood Hills stuff.
