Shannon Elizabeth is eliminated in week 7 of Dancing With The Stars
Elimination night on Dancing With The Stars. I get so torn because I love to find out who is eliminated and who is safe but I hate waiting the whole hour to find out the final results.
Tonight had an extra long recap of the previous night, so the encore performance didn’t go off until 9:12 pm. It was Jason and Edyta’s Quickstep, a dance Len said the judges thought was a standout among many good dances last night. Tom Bergeron said it was as good as last night; I disagreed.
It’s interesting to note that as of this point in time it hasn’t been revealed the nature of or severity of Cristian’s injury. Cheryl said she heard a crack when they were dancing and at first she thought it was a costume malfunction; one of the other celebrities (I can’t remember who) mentioned that the arm looked dislocated. As I said they still haven’t revealed the nature of the injury.
The first elimination announcement was next, and Len had a surprise for everyone. Next week one lift will be allowed per dance, and it must be in character with the dance. He said that all the couples were pushing the boundaries of what is a lift and what isn’t so instead of trying to fight it they were going to make this change to the rules. The pros looked very happy about it. Oh yeah, the elimination. We find out that Kristi and Mark are the first couple to be saved.
The every funny “Dance Center” skit was up next – at least part one of it. Jerry Rice, Len Goodman and Kenny Mayne gave their insight into three of the celebrities – Cristian, Mario and Shannon. They are so funny that I think this should be a weekly skit. Of course if it was a weekly skit I’d probably get bored with it.
Musical guest Def Leppard was up next performing their hit “Pour Some Sugar on Me” and pros Tony, Karina, Mark, Anna, Louis and Cheryl performed a great Paso Doble along with the performance. Too much pyrotechnics and not enough dancing. That being said I thought the band was great. I got to see them live a few years ago and they are as good as I remember.
Dance Center, part 2. Kristi, Jason and Marissa are fair game for the guys and I found out something I never really thought I needed to know or cared to know. Jason Taylor supposedly has a flatulence problem. But then again, don’t all men?
Elimination time – we find out that Mario and Karina are safe.
It’s interesting to note that the show still hasn’t revealed the true nature of Cristian’s injury. I’m thinking this means that he is going to drop out of the show and everyone else is safe no matter what the results of voting prove.
Def Leppard was up next, performing their new song “Nine Lives” and were accompanied by a champion ballroom couple. I didn’t catch their names. It was a good performance but at this point all I want to know is who is safe and who is going home. And I want to know what happened to Cristian.
A piece was up next about how the stars handle the pressure of the week leading up to the live show. Time waster.
Elimination is up next. Tom Bergeron said that the trajectory of the show has changed several times today, the most recent being just before the live results show tonight. They go through the whole drama of announcing the remaining couples and the cute lines about them and then we go to commercial, leaving everyone wondering what Bergeron meant.
Back from commercial the hosts call out Cristian and Cheryl. They ask about the nature of his injury and he states that he ruptured a tendon in his bicep and needs surgery to repair it. He had an MRI today and the surgeon said they could delay surgery if he wanted to, so if the fans voted him in he would not give up and would keep competing. Bergeron stats that this is a risk and was he willing to take it. He said that if a deaf woman could take the risk to come out and compete than so could he. The fans did vote him safe, along with Jason and Edyta.
The bottom two tonight were Marissa and Tony and Shannon and Derek, with Shannon Elizabeth being eliminated. Pit Bull Samantha Harris was still trying to get them to admit to a romance but neither one of them would do so.
