Shock Heard Around the World, Chris Daughtry voted off American Idol
Can you believe? Chris Daughtry has just been voted off of American Idol. This is just too much to handle. At first, I thought Ryan Seacrest was just kidding around because just the way he came right out and said “Chris, you’re going home tonight”. That to me is just not right. Chris Daughtry was one of the best on American Idol and he deserved to be in the finale on American Idol. I’m not saying that Taylor Hicks, Elliott Yamin and Katherine McPhee aren’t as talented as Chris Daughtry but Chris had something special, something you don’t see everyday in a performer.
Even the Judges were shocked to see Chris being the one to go home tonight on American Idol. At this point, there is nothing that anyone of us can do except that we hope and wish that Chris Daughtry does well in this business and hope that we hear from him soon.
Next week, you will see the top three American Idols perform their hearts out hoping to be in the finale. Who will it be, Taylor Hicks, Elliott Yamin or Katherine McPhee. Keep watching and keep voting. This only shows you how much you need to vote to keep your favorite in the competition.

It was a shock this week on American Idol to see Chris Daughrity leave the show. Many people, including myself, believed that this week Elliott Yamin would go, but in fact Yamin, along with 29 year old Taylor Hicks made the top two. Katharine McPhee edged out Chris to remain in the competition for at least another week by getting third place in the voting. Many of the fans on hand as well as the juges were stunned that Chris was voted of the show. Paula Abdul, like expected, was again crying. We will have to see how the competition plays out over the next few weeks to see who will become the 2006 American Idol.

Quite a shock on American Idol tonight as someone who seemed a shoo-in for the finales was booted. The show opened with the contestants at the home of the King of Rock-n-Roll – Elvis Presley. What plastic surgeon did Priscilla Presley go to to get The Joker look? She is just scary, down right scary now. And, in case you are wondering, yes, the inside of Graceland is really as tacky as it looks on television. Poor Elvis…so unfortunate to die in 1977 and be immortalized with tacky interior design forever.
After much time filling by Rebecca Romijn, Ryan, and the Idols themselves, we got down to the top two and the bottom two. I figured when I saw Taylor and Elliott together that they were the top two and indeed, they were. Chris and Katharine were the bottom two contestants. Seems like all of us, even Katharine expected to hear her name called when Ryan callously blurted out that Chris was leaving. However, I am fine with that – to me, Chris had become too smug. As the final four stood before us, they all looked nervous except Chris. You can sing as intensely as you want, but at the end of the day, all American Idol really is is a show where America votes for their favorites and Chris just did not get the votes. I think Chris and his fans both bought into all the hype surrounding him and got lax about voting and you just cannot to that.
I didn’t really enjoy Chris’ performances this week, so maybe it was really Elvis that kicked his butt in the end.

We were all shocked to see Chris go. No reason to watch the rest of the season besides boredom and curiousity.
