Simon actually apologized
Last night, 47.5 million votes were tallied for American Idol. That is the highest total number of votes for a non-finale show. This seems to be the best season so far!
In an uncharacteristic manner, Simon apologized for all the nasty things he said about Katharine last night. Randy apologized also. When Ryan asked Paula, she said she hadn’t been harsh. Today a rumor was circulating that Ryan and Paula are not on speaking terms, but he tried to play that down by standing by the judges looking all buddy-buddy. I am not convinced.
The contestants were divided into three categories tonight – the top two, the middle two, and the bottom two. Katharine, Elliot, and Kelly were all in different groups. They then paired Taylor with Elliott, Chris with Katharine, and Paris with Kellie. When Paris joined Kellie, I was pretty sure that was the bottom two grouping. Taylor and Elliott were the first to sit down – they were the middle group. Katharine and Chris got the most votes (I am sure Katharine’s outfit helped immensely). And, it is Kellie leaving tonight, which I think is long overdue. She has not performed well the last several weeks to me, so America finally sent her home.
