So You Think You Can Dance: Atlanta Auditions
I am always a bit sad to see the last audition city for SYTYCD. It means the end of great dancers, but also the end of the freaky people too! Shane Sparks was sitting in as a guest judge again as they took a look at what Atlanta had to offer.
Nigel was very impressed by Caitlin, who just turned 18. She was very good. Tony impressed Shane very much, so much so that Nigel and Mary left. It was hilarious when Shane did his impressions of Mary’s scream and Nigel saying he could go straight to the choreographer round. Tony eventually made it to Vegas. One of the most interesting contestants was Brandon, a clogger. Nigel pointed out before he started that they had never let a clogger through to Vegas, but told Brandon he was the best clogger they had seen and he made it. Bryan was so cute! He has scoliosis (curvature of the spine) but as Nigel said, he really took what physical attributes he did have and work them to his advantage. The judges absolutely loved him. He didn’t make it through choreography, but Shane said he’d try to get him into a new movie he was making. Much to his dad’s dismay, Myles gave up football for ballet, but he made it to Vegas (after Nigel told him he would never make it through the choreography round).
Matthew the Cowboy and Chris the Marine both had great personalities and were fun, but didn’t quite have the technique to make it to Vegas. Jessica just scared Nigel, but the “oh no she didn’t” winner of the night was Kippery. First, she couldn’t pronounce the word “street” (she kept calling it “screet”) then she couldn’t dance. But, the poor thing admitted to paying $1,400 for a dance workshop, which Nigel said was just a rip-off. Shane minced no words in telling her that she should come back when they were looking for someone of her type – “overweight and really can’t dance.”
