So You Think You Can Dance Auditions Continue

We continued to see more great dancers at the LA and Chicago auditions for “So You Think You Can Dance” as well as a few strange ones.  EJ, the hairstylist, moved pretty good for a fat guy, but seriously dude, cover up the stomach.  At least after Nigel slammed him, he had a few good things to say.  Colin was just strange – the closeness he felt with Anna Nicole was only rivaled by his odd dancing.  Then Bryce, the Gold Inferno, showed up with his gold mask.  I don’t know what jump style dancing is, but it intrigued Nigel enough that he put him through to the choreography round, where he promptly showed that he had two left feet.

There were good dancers (Jessi, Lauren, Chuy, Morgan), but only a few stood out in the crowd.  First, there was Kurt and Dia.  Dia had their weird thing where she winked at the judges while dancing and Kurt has had the hiccups for the past 7 /12 years.  The pair kept the judges in stitches – I thought Mary was going to wet herself!  But, they were good dancers and made it through to Vegas.  Benji’s little sister, who was too young to compete last year, was going to stand out in any crowd.  An excellent dancer, just like her brother and cousin (last year’s fourth runner up Heidi), she easily made it through to Vegas.  The Gomez family was a brother and sister duo that danced separately.  While the brother didn’t make it, the sister had Shane Sparks attention and made it through choreography to Vegas.  Speaking of having Shane’s attention, I thought he was just going to pass out when he saw Phillip from Houston dance.  I had to stop the show and call my husband in to see Phillip –he was freaky cool!  Then there was Janet, with the prosthetic arm.  I didn’t even notice until Nigel said something about it.  She was a beautiful girl and a good dancer.  After the choreography round, she too made it to Vegas.

And finally, one of my favorites from last year, Hok, made it back this year WITH a work visa in hand.  There was no question among the judges that he would make it to Vegas if he were just legal.
