So You Think You Can Dance: Jessica Leaves as Comfort Returns
This week on So You Think You Can Dance, we found out that Jessica broke some ribs and she is out of the competition. They brought back Comfort (the last girl eliminated) to take her place. The guest judge tonight was Lil C and we now rely on viewer votes to see who moves on in the competition.
First up was Joshua and Courtney with the hip-hop “Spankingstein” routine as Nigel called it. Cute, cute, cute! Courtney missed the leg thing, but it was still a good routine and I loved the idea behind it. Their second dance was the rumba, which caused Courtney to say Joshua was “the man.” Nigel seemed a bit off that he was so butch during the dance, but said some women like that. I loved it when Joshua showed Nigel his nipple then said he had to keep up with Will and Twitch, who were always naked on stage.
Marc and Kherington got the two-step. This was just not good. Kherington missed one of the first twirls, but as Nigel said, they didn’t give up. Their second routine, a jazz piece, wasn’t much better. All the judges agreed that technically they did well, but there was no passion or heart to the dance.
Comfort and Twitch got the waltz and while the lift was incredible, the rest of it fell flat. Even Nigel said if someone tuning in for the first time saw that routine, they would think “these two are in the top 10?” Twitch and Comfort got a hip-hip routine for their second dance and they nailed it. Nigel praised Comfort, saying she had stepped up to the plate.
Katee and Will did a Broadway routine. Despite Katee being in a Mary Ann from “Gilligan’s Island” outfit, the routine was sensational! Nigel continues to mention how close they came to not having Katee in the competition week after week. Katee and Will could do no wrong this week as their second routine, a Pas de Deux ballet number, got even more praise than their first. Although Katee messed up a leg turn, Nigel said he had never seen such wonderful dancing on the show.
Gev and Chelsie did a contemporary routine. Nigel said he didn’t feel any passion on Gev’s part because he might have had Courtney on his mind, but Mary said they had amazing chemistry. Their Jive didn’t get much praise for Gev, although all the judges agreed that Chelsie outstepped him.
Who’s is danger this week? It is getting so hard to say, but for the girl’s I would have to go with Comfort. Yes, she nailed the hip-hop routine, but that is her style, so that was a gimme. For the guys, I am afraid it may be Mark. I like him, but both routines got bad reviews by the judges. My current favorites are Courtney (she is so cute, I now officially hate her) and Joshua, but a small part of me is rooting for Gev.
