So You Think You Can Dance: Los Angeles and Seattle Auditions

Well, last night, I said “So You Think You Can Dance” didn’t seem to be showing as many bad dancers this year as previous seasons. They were apparently just saving it all for the final night of auditions!

But again, I will skip over the bad (well, until the end of the blog anyhow) and concentrate on the good. Biance Revels, who Mary called the best female tap dancer she had seen, made it through to Vegas as did Asuka Kondoh and Ricky Sun. They were THE cutest couple and Asuka is a little firecracker. I forget how bad some of the people who audition really are until I see dancers that are this good and make it look so effortless.

Nathan Trasoras got a ticket to Vegas, but it isn’t good until next year because he was only 17. Oh well, Hok came back after the visa problem, I am sure Nathan will come back too.

Amanda Kirby, whose dad suffers from multiple sclerosis, was good, but her beauty almost overshadowed her dancing. At least it did for Nigel. Arielle Coker, who was in a terrible car accident with her family, chose Phillip, who had a ticket to Vegas last year, but had to cancel because of pneumonia, to be her partner. Phillip was immediately given a ticket by Nigel without even dancing while Arielle had to dance for hers.

Sammy Ramirez, Alexie Agdeppa, and Diana Vaden all had to go to choreography, but made it through to Vegas. I was a bit disappointed that Chanel Smith didn’t, however.

Nick “Nasty” Salzman might have made it through had he not smarted off to Nigel. Let this be a lesson children – disrespect the executive producer of the show, lose your chance to advance.

The first day in Seattle was a disaster, with only four dancers, including Kelsea Taylor, getting tickets to Vegas. But, the second day picked up as Kuponohi’ipoi Aweau made it through choreography.

Then, it was the Battle in Seattle as computer tech guy Leonid Knyshov battled again Sex. Yes, that Sex – Sex that has showed up with his mom every season. Of course, when Nigel suggested a dance-off, Sex had to consult with his mom before saying yes. Mia and Mary gave the win to Leo, but Nigel thought Sex took him.

Then, Nigel did the unthinkable – he put Sex through to the choreography round. But, it was only to give him a reality check. Good luck on that Nigel. Nigel told him he couldn’t come back anymore, but Sex promised to return. Oh well, at least his mom is proud of him.
